How to Make the Most of a Studio Office Design

studio office designThere’s a common misconception in the design world that a larger canvas allows for greater creativity; that if you’re saddled with tight quarters you’ll just have to make do with your surroundings. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Indeed, anyone can make the most of a studio office design –– provided they keep an open mind and apply sound design elements to their space. Here’s how you can get started revamping your studio office:

Use Vertical Space

Just because an office doesn’t have thousands of square footage to play around with, doesn’t mean it lacks area to exploit. In some instances, you merely need to look up to see the potential in your studio office. If you’re blessed with high ceilings, make sure to get the most of them by stacking essential items, or using shelves to house documents or other items that might normally take up lots of real estate. Plus, an office bookshelf is a wonderful way to provide your employees with valuable resources –– without eating up tons of space.

Embrace the Unorthodox

More and more companies are utilizing unconventional spaces to house their employees. And while this presents a challenge to traditional design motifs, it also allows for new ways to lay out an office. Pillars, air vents, and other potential industrial leftovers can be repurposed to fit the design of your studio office –– so long as you take the time to incorporate them within your overarching plans.

Lighting is Essential

Having big, expansive windows can be a godsend to a studio office. But even if you don’t have access to natural light, you can at least ensure that your office is lighted properly. Everyone hates the metallic haze that old-school industrial bulbs give off; so do your best to provide proper lighting for your team members. Additionally, exploring how bright colors accentuate your office can be a fantastic way to liven up a small, or untraditional work area.

Think Exotic

If you really want to spice up your office, consider adding other organisms to it. While an office dog or cat might be right for some unconventional offices, we suggest adding strategically placed plants to help bolster both the sightlines and the air quality within your office. Furthermore, aquariums and ant farms catch the eye and won’t cut into your work space very much.
