Rather than prioritizing customer-facing renovations, Clyde’s made the strategic decision to undergo renovations of the employee entrance at one of its facilities, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to a people-first workplace culture.
Objective
The primary goal of this project was to transform an aging employee entrance into a welcoming, safe, and functional space that reflected Clyde’s core values. The renovation needed to improve the daily experience for employees while enhancing safety, strengthening company culture, and creating a more intentional arrival experience that communicated appreciation for every team member.
Strategy & Implementation
Key Interiors partnered with Clyde’s Donuts to create an entrance that balanced architectural appeal with practical performance. Rather than focusing solely on aesthetics, every design decision centered on employee wellbeing and usability.
The renovation introduced a distinctive curved awning that established a recognizable identity while providing protection from rain, wind, and glare. What was once an ordinary entrance became a welcoming touch to help employees start their day on the right foot.
Safety was equally important throughout the design process. To address harsh Midwest winters, an integrated stair heating system was installed beneath the entrance to help prevent snow and ice accumulation, reducing slip hazards for employees entering the building. Additional lighting was incorporated along the stairway to improve visibility during early morning arrivals and evening shifts, creating a safer environment year-round.
By combining thoughtful architectural enhancements with practical safety improvements, Key Interiors delivered a solution that aligned the physical environment with Clyde’s employee-first philosophy.
