Modular laminate workstations are a great modern alternative to cubicles

Burgess-Norton Manufacturing Co.

Updating while maintaining historical integrity

Challenge: The World‘s largest manufacturer of piston pins and powder metal parts wanted to update their 75 year-old facility while maintaining the historical integrity of this company which has been around for more than 115 years. Their desire to implement a free address work culture was met with the typical resistance to change we see in deeply rooted companies.

Solution: Key Interiors assisted in question and answer sessions regarding the new design layout. Our team worked with Burgess Norton to create a list of amenities important to their employees. We designed sit stand workstations with storage towers that serve as privacy panels. In exchange for smaller flexible works tat ions, team members were presented with a large hub space complete with telephone booths, personal lockers, a family wall and a ping pong table. Private offices were converted to meeting rooms, each with a different furniture configuration. A new break room was installed in t he abandoned vault room, giving new life to an unused space. Keeping the vault door, brick wall and concrete ceiling as reminder of its past.
